Becoming A Foster Parent

Here at OCOK, we connect prospective families with quality child placing agencies to reduce the number of times children are moved between foster homes.

We help you connect with an agency in our network.

Foster families are responsible for housing, feeding, and transporting the children placed in their care. Children in foster care can be placed in a single foster family of one or more parents caring for up to six foster children in their home with their own biological or adopted children.

Whether it is a faith-based agency, an agency that licenses same-sex couples, or an agency in a specific county, all are seeking qualified families to take care of vulnerable children.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the process take to become licensed?

It depends on the agency you choose to become licensed through. Each agency has different training schedules and requirements. This is a question to ask the agencies you are considering.

Can I get licensed through CPS?

If you live in Tarrant, Parker, Palo Pinto, Johnson, Hood, Erath or Somervell County, you cannot get licensed through CPS. You must be verified through a child placing agency.
